# 10 Ernest Hemmingway

Ernest Hemmingway (deceased 1962) was an American author and journalist who is famous for  his contributions to literary culture throughout the 20th century, such as his first novel, published in 1926 The Sun Also Rises.  Hemmingway’s writing style, described as “hard boiled” and coveringthemes such as war, love and loss were influenced by the vivid events of his life. Hemmingway fought in both World Wars and the Spanish Civil War, lived on several continents and in several countries, married four women and was almost killed multiple times (including two plane crashes which left him in constant pain), before finally taking his own life after a battle with depression.

# 2 Robert Frost

Robert Frost (deceased 1963) was an America poet known for writing about rural, New England life and speaking through poems on social and philosophical themes. Curiously, Frost attended Dartmouth and Harvard, never earning a formal degree, held many was at one time a cobbler, teacher, and editor of a newspaper, and won four Pulitzer prizes.
